    Osho Ashram Sauraha (OAS) is Buddha field established over 3 decades ago and is dedicated to the teaching and vision of the contemporary enlightened master – Osho.

    Osho Sannyasins (Zorba the Buddha) meditate and celebrate at OAS by using scientific and simple meditation techniques as prescribed by Osho.

    Celebration and life transformation keeps going on in OAS with the help of life transforming music from Osho’s world and divine discourses by Osho Himself.

    Everyone is welcome to participate in the silence and in the dance at OAS.

    HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

    Osho Meditation Centers were growing both in terms of quantity and quality all over the world and towards the end of 1987, 3 years before Osho left His body, Swami Om Bharati (Om Nath Dallakoti), established a meditation center in the bank of Rapti River which is just one kilometer outside of the Chitwan National Park- UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    Osho himself blessed this unique meditation center with His unique robe and Osho Maitreya Dhyan Kendra as its name. The center, then popularly known as Osho Camp, started functioning right from 1988 catering seekers not only from Nepal, India and Japan but also from many western countries. Osho Maitreya Dhyan Kendra was established as one of the pioneering Osho meditation centers in Nepal.

    Osho Ashram Sauraha is full of natural beauties, fruit trees, flowers, plants; hundreds of bird species etc. and has comfortable residential facilities for 60+ seekers at a time. The center now presents different camps conducted both by inhouse and guest facilitaors.

    Local places of spiritual interest are Devghat Dham (near Bharatpur) where Kali Gandaki and Trishuli river meet, Hari Baba’s (Guru of Pilot Baba) Ashram in Bhainse (near Hetauda) are famous for a day long retreat.

    Elephant back or jeep safari in Chitwan National Park, elephant and crocodile breeding centers, canoeing in river Rapti, white water rafting in Trishuli river, bird watching, trekking, hiking, paragliding, bungee jumping, mountain flight are lifetime experiences for nature lovers and adventurers in Nepal.     OSHODHARA MAITRI SANGH

    Osho Ashram Sauraha is owned and managed by Oshodhara Maitri Sangh (OMS) – a non governmental organization registered at Chitwan.

    In addition to Osho Ashram Sauraha, OMS also operates and presents its service under the following independent platforms namely:

    • Osho Jeevan Jagriti Kendra
    • Osho Jeevan Jagriti Satsang
    • Osho Jeevan Jagriti Suchana Kendra

    Swami Maitreya (Sri Bheem Timilsina) is founder president of OMS and who chairs 9 member working committee appointed by OMS general assembly.

    HOW TO GET THERE

    Flight to Kathmandu, capital of Nepal, are operated from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata in India. Convenient connections are available from the USA, Europe, South East Asia and Middle East. Chitwan is only 5 hours by road and 20 minutes by flight from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Nearest domestic airport is Bharatpur and highway junction is Sauraha chowk, Ratnanagar (Tandi).

    Those who would like to enter Nepal via Indian boarder-Raxaul (near Birjung) and Sunauli (near Gorakhpur) are main entry points among several border crossing points in West Bengal, Bihar, UP and Uttarakhand. Indian nationals need government issued photo identity card such as adhar card, citizenship certificate or valid passport to enter Nepal. No visa is required. Direct buses to Sauraha are operated daily from Sunauli border which is about 6 hours journey by road from Gorakhpur. Direct buses are also available from Kathmandu and Pokhara.

    PLACES OF INTEREST

    KATHMANDU, abode of lord Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Swyambhu and hundreds of temples and stupas, is just 20 minutes by flight from Bharatpur airport or 5 hours away via a very scenic drive by the side of Trisuli river. Kathmandu is capital city of Nepal.

    POKHARA, one of the most beautiful and ‘most visit’ places in the world, is 4 hour by luxury tourist bus or by car. Minimum 3 days are needed in Pokhara to enjoy it’s nature, culture and adventure.

    LUMBINI, birth place of Lord Buddha is 4 hours from Sauraha. There are many Buddhist pilgrim sites around Lumbini including Kapilvastu, palace of King Suddhodhana father of Siddharth Gautam.

    Janakpur Dham, Daman, Srinagar (Palpa), Bandipur, Gorkha, too, are most visited places around Sauraha.
